Entertaining is a broad activity involving the mind, body and senses. It involves a wide range of experiences and may be improvised or pre-planned for any audience. It can be personal, such as an individual choosing a movie from a large catalogue of pre-recorded entertainment; it can be intimate, with a meal prepared for two people; it can involve a group, such as a party or banquet; or it can be for thousands on a global scale. Some entertainment has a serious purpose, such as ceremonies, religious festivals and satire. It is also a significant part of childhood, where it prepares children for adult activities such as performance and social interaction.
